Cooking Club

In May 2010, I started a delicious new tradition with a dear friend of mine.

It sort of happened by accident. We were flipping through the LCBO Food & Drink magazine, salivating at all of the amazing-looking recipes and claiming that we could never make food like that.

Why not? Oh, we had lots of reasons. The ingredient lists were intimidating and expensive… they required fancy kitchen tools we didn’t own… we’d have to go out and buy a spice rack… but mostly, the recipes just seemed so time-consuming.

So Joanna and I thought: what if we chose a recipe, went to the market, headed to one of our houses and spent the evening cooking up a storm? Throw in a bottle of wine or two, a few good friends and you’ve got a pretty rockin’ party.

Our ‘Cooking Club’ has evolved over time — we’ve branched off from Food & Drink, mixed up the locale and hosted different dinner guests. But the core ingredients are always there: new recipes + wine + friends + team effort. It’s amazing what magical concoctions you can create when you’ve got four (or six, or eight) hands instead of two.

For your convenience, here’s a list of posts I’ve written about our Cooking Clubs:
